FAQs

  • We are the ONLY clothing optional business in Lawrence! (that we know of 😜)

No really though. People frequently ask us what they should wear to the Soak N Sweat session at Mud & Lotus. Our answer: whatever you want! The dressing room and the entire garden will be your private oasis for the length of the reservation - some folks bring swim suits, and some wear only their birthday suits. Either one is fine! We provide large towels which can be worn as a robe while moving to and from the tub/sauna.

Enjoy the skin you are in at Mud & Lotus.

  • Folks often ask "what do I need to bring?" Well really, you only need to bring your beautiful self!

We provide towels, filtered water, and organic herbal tea as well as all natural shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, rose spritzer and hand sanitizer.

It's a good idea to bring a refillable water bottle so you can stay hydrated - heat bathing can cause dehydration so it's smart to actually super hydrate the day before and the day of your appointment.

You can bring and wear a swimsuit if you like - but it's optional!

Bonus items to bring: a journal, music, a special drink or snack, a loved one, dry brush to use before sauna, body oil (for after use of tub/sauna only!), an intention for your self-care ritual.

Make your Soak N Sweat your own by bringing intention and mindfulness into the experience. We highly recommend using this time for habit stacking - it's a great chance to unplug, do your mediation/deep breathing/visualization/contemplation practices. After all, you deserve bliss!

  • LET'S TALK FINANCES💚 Some guests have a hard time understanding why we charge a late cancel fee of $30 per appointment, when an appointment is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice or if the guests no-showed.

The answer is simply that without 48 hours notice, we often aren't able to fill the space we were reserving for you. That means that another guest isn't able to get the services they might have needed, and it means a major loss of income for the business.

As a small business with limited capacity, every single last minute cancellation hurts. The late cancel fee, while only a small portion of the actual appointment charge (anywhere from $45 - $150) only puts a dent into the loss of income for the business, our talented therapists, and spa assistants. Because we know life happens and sh*t comes up, we made it a smaller fee which is hopefully affordable for most guests. We kinda hate enforcing this policy but real talk, we rely on it!

  • The answer is mostly YES! We do generally recommend avoiding extremely high temps in the 1st trimester when a lot of neurological development is occurring. And of course, if you are a high risk pregnancy always check with your healthcare provider first. We do advise for all folks, but especially pregnant folks to be careful not to overheat, to take breaks and cold rinses, and to stay super hydrated before, during and after a soak. Always listen to your body.

There can be a lot of benefits for sensible hot tub use In the later stages of pregnancy. The buoyancy of warm water can be extremely soothing and help relieve pressure and weight on the belly, sacrum and hips, providing much needed relief. It's deliciously relaxing and nurturing and can be a great place to gather with friends or a partner to connect and honor this special phase of life.

We would be honored to help hold and nurture you while you hold and nurture life!
